Orange Bytes Available Online

[Update] The September Orange Bytes is now online at the listed link below.

The PDF version of the Orange Bytes is available at the NOCCC Beginners Digital Photography SIGs OneDrive website.

The link to these digital Orange Bytes is: http://1drv.ms/1A9mFLl

The link is listed on the Right Sidebar under the Primary list.

The New Orange Bytes Is Here!

The Orange Bytes is back not by popular demand but through the hard work of Steve Breitbart.

A big congratulations to Steve Breitbart. This new version of the Orange Bytes is just the ticket. Good work Steve.

Next Meeting: July 6, 2014.

Because of Steve’s hard work we now know the date for the July meeting. It’s July 6, 2014. See everyone there. Yes I know it’s during July 4th celebrations but that’s what it is.

If you haven’t received your Orange Bytes yet be patient. It’s still a week plus until the meeting. Plenty of time for your Bytes to arrive.

The main meeting speaker is Alex Leipf. He was the NOCCC scholarship recipient in 2013. He is a Master’s Degree candidate in computational science at Chapman University.

What’s With The NOCCC Web Site And Orange Bytes?

It appears that the official NOCCC web site is not be maintained. Nothing has been changed since April 2014. If anything has been added since then it’s not apparent to me. This is a problem because there is no paper version of the Orange Bytes.

The Orange Byte is our monthly newsletter. It stopped publishing several months ago. So no information about the SIGs. No information about meeting dates. It was reported at our last meeting that a smaller Orange Bytes would be printed and sent out prior to the July 2014 meeting. Maybe.

The big problem with no paper Orange Bytes and the web site not getting updated means no one knows when the July meeting will be. No dates for future meetings have been posted.

After sending in my SIG report and uploading the pictures from the June meeting I have heard nothing. I have no idea if anyone is doing anything with the Bytes or the web site.

If this continues and no dates are set for future meetings I will just stay home.

PS: It is apparent that all I have done with this post is yell into a dry water well.

Tidbits For May 2014

May 28, 2014

Next NOCCC meeting is this Sunday, June 1, 2014.

June 1, 2014 is our next meeting. Don’t be late. If you’re coming early to help setup or to attend one of the 9AM meetings I will have free coffee in Science 131A.

For the Beginning Digital Photography we will look at another photo organizer, Zoner Photo Studio 15 PRO. This was a free download that I mentioned earlier in this post. It’s no longer available as a free download.

I will append this post as I figure out what the hell I will talk about. Except for Zoner Photo Studio I’m still working on more ideas.

Zoner Photo Studio 15 PRO

zoner1This is a Lightroom alternative program that is usually $90 but today only it is free. Since I’ve never used this app I can’t say anything about it. Go to PetaPixel for a short take on this app. They also have the links where you can download the program.

Don’t know how long this offer is going to last. 24 hrs or longer? So you better get your copy today.

I will give a demo of the program at the next NOCCC meeting.

The new flickr  is possibly getting another facelift. Currently flickr is easier to use than Google+ and has many more features than Micorosft’s OneDrive.

So if this new update really is an improvement for flickr it should put it out front for sure.
